As an artist (Painter, Photographer and Art Tutor) I see these Brisbane Art Workshops as a wonderful opportunity to share my experience and expertise. I have an extensive background in creative pursuits including many exhibitions. I have run many art programmes, curated and judged shows and I simply enjoy helping others to develop their skills. My knowledge of the artworld, the historical significance of styles and techniques and a strong background in painting with a variety of media, guides my perception to gauge the stage you may be at. I can help you to see the direction most suitable for your advancement.

ANNA NIBLIC HEGGIE: Fundamentals of Drawing and Painting – A Dynamic Approach
An intensive course that increases technical knowledge and develops thought processes. A systematic investigation of the subject matter is made using art references, drawing on the traditional teaching methodologies of the fine arts, incorporating a strong grounding in both drawing and painting using a dynamic approach. Visual awareness is increased with the freedom to express more creatively, working from a solid foundation of tonal analysis and colour mixing with technical demonstrations in glazing, scumbling and other paint applications.
In learning the fundamentals of Drawing and Painting, a student needs to feel both support and encouragement. At the same time, we learn best when we enjoy what we are focusing our attention on.
These art classes provide a unique opportunity of learning. It will allow the student to work in a non-competitive atmosphere which centres on the joy of creativity yet contains plenty of structure to investigate the fundamental essentials you want to know.
The 8 week course with Anna provides you with a unique opportunity to increase your creative development by showing you how to increase your own visual perception using what is available in your environment.
Anna is an Art Teacher and Professional Artist with many years of experience. She has a love of art as a creative force for deeper potentialities.
Anna will help you to gain confidence and face the challenges of learning to Draw and Paint. You will begin morning sessions by learning to investigate a variety of shapes and forms in charcoal on paper. You will be shown how to analyse a variety of forms through understanding tonal values. At the same time the essentials of mark making and gestural studies are implied.
Anna’s approach to teaching is to make you aware of the yin and yang of art and how technical virtuosity is only one perspective. Personal expression is validated.
The afternoon sessions will be spent painting on canvases. Here you will learn a lot about controlling tone and colour as well as a variety of useful techniques.
Composition will be explained in terms of the elements and principals of design and how they help you to express ideas.
